Kelly, William
(1821–1906)
   Sect Founder.
Kelly was a native of Ulster and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. At the age of twenty, he joined the Plymouth Brethren, as a follower of John darby, whose collected works he later edited. For much of his life he edited two Brethren periodicals, The Prospect from 1848 to 1850 and the Bible Treasury from 1856 until the time of his death. In 1879 there was a split among the Exclusive Brethren, with Kelly leading the more moderate group. Today the Kelly Assemblies still exist as a separate body.
